All about The Bakery

Dojo Bread was founded in 2006 when Matthew declared to his wife that in order to support her, while she looked after their baby without having to travel out of town to work, he would need a couple of years to set up a bakery. Matthew wanted to make bread the way it should be made, with real ingredients and proper fermentation. Due to ever growing demands, the bakery has increased production every year since then.

In the age of quick factory bread, Dojo Bread is regarded by its customers as "the real bread" which is carefully fermented and made with the care of a proud craftsman.

The bakery is a bread-lovers' paradise, with the sights and smell of freshly baked bread immediately bringing back long forgotten tastes and childhood memories.

Some varieties of bread are made every baking day, while other breads are only available on one day of the week. Friends of Dojo Bread know that traditional bread takes time and not all breads will be available at all times. There is a a blackboard that lists all the breads that are being made on the day.

And while you are picking up your bread, you could also enjoy a cup of freshly and professionally brewed coffee, with its aroma mixing with the mouth-watering invitation of a range of freshly baked bread, rolls or focaccia and the likes.

Dojo Bread Bakery is located in one of Braidwood's oldest buildings. While the bakery is hidden up a laneway, off Wallace Street, the main street of Braidwood, it is easy to find. Just look down the laneway next to the Pizzeria, and you will find the familiar Dojo Bread sign decorating the baker's van. The bakery is open 7 days a week, 9 am to 1 pm; after this the bread is available for sale at IGA Braidwood, corner of Wallace and Lascelles Streets, Braidwood.

The building has a history, it has housed one time or another a brewery, a garage and stables, and has been a workers' cottage.
